Job Description

Line workers are responsible for the good manufacturing of all products. Our client follows a strict code of quality for all of our manufactured products. Line workers are an essential aspect of the quality control of our products. Line workers are supervised directly by the Line Leader. Line Workers are responsible for labeling and packaging during changeovers or when instructed by the Line Leader. Line Workers will be placed where needed during line downtime to ensure maximum production. Every day, Line Workers are assigned to a specific line and position as outlined on the Employee Placement Sheet. The position and responsibility are as follows: FILLER:
  • Feeding filling line bottles.
  • Monitor bottles for factory defects.
  • Breaking down empty boxes from bottles.
  • Filling on a Perl Filler or Hand Filler if necessary.
  • Operate basic machine functions.
  • Inform Line Leader of low bottle supply.
  • Clean up unacceptable cart when line is down.
CAPPER:
  • Place and secure caps on bottle in a fashion that will not damage heat seal.
  • Monitor caps for factory defects.
  • Breaking down empty cap boxes.
  • Inform Line Leader of low cap supply.
  • Clean up unacceptable cart when line is down.
TIGHTENER:
  • Tighten every bottle that comes down filling line.
  • Check heat seal on every fifth bottle. {Unless specified another amount}
  • Monitor product labeler for proper operation and label height on bottle.
  • Inform Line Leader of low label supply.
  • Clean up unacceptable cart when line is down.
PACKER:
  • Check for a legible lot number on every bottle.
  • Check for label imperfections on every bottle.
  • Monitor packaging material for factory defects.
  • Properly pack every bottle by guidelines set by the customer.
  • Properly seal packaging for shipment.
  • Inform Line Leader of low packaging supplies.
  • Clean up unacceptable cart when line is down.
PALLET:
  • Placing finished packaging on the appropriate pallet.
  • Sealing finished packaging for shipment.
  • Placing temporary wrap around the finished pallet for in-house transport.
  • Helping with packaging of products.
  • Clean up line waste when line is down.

Safety is a must and a top priority.  Line Workers are an essential part of safety. Line Workers must be attentive to breaking down cardboard promptly. Trash must be placed in the proper receptacle and not thrown on the floor. This prevents trip hazards and potential injury to employees. Line Workers must also adhere to personal safety as well as product safety. Hairnets, gloves, and safety glasses are made readily available to all employees. Line Workers must report any observed infractions to supervisors or managers that jeopardize an employee's or product's safety.


At the end of each day, production lines are cleaned and organized. Line Workers are heavily involved in this end-of-day procedure. Line Worker duties are, but not limited to, the following tasks:
  • Sweeping production floor
  • Cleaning up product spills on floor and machinery
  • Sealing up all bottle and cap boxes to prevent dust contamination overnight.
  • Place cardboard over all product that have not yet been packaged to prevent dust contamination overnight.
  • Picking up all dirty rags of floor and machinery and placing in proper receptacle.
  • Picking up all unacceptable bottles and caps and placing in proper receptacle.
  • Removing all trash from production area and placing in trash compactor.
  • Breaking down and removing all cardboard from production area and placed by cardboard compactor in an orderly fashion.

Line Workers are also placed on a rotating schedule for cleaning bathrooms and employee lunchrooms. This cleaning is performed on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The rotation is chosen every week. All Line Workers are required to clean. A Line Leader has been chosen to supervise this cleaning and final check completed by the Plant Manager and/or Quality Assurance Department.
