Job Description


Schulte Staffing Solutions is seeking a Quality Assurance (Q.A.) Technician for our client in Gloucester, MA. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all food safety, regulatory, customer, and internal quality standards within a food production environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to maintaining the highest levels of food safety and product quality.

Pay starts at $24.00/hr (DOE)
Key Responsibilities Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Coordinate with the QA Head of FSQR and Production Manager to ensure compliance with FDA, State, and Local regulations, as well as internal programs including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, SQF, FSMA, sanitation, and pest control requirements

  • Promote food safety and quality adherence throughout the facility

  • Maintain Quality Assurance documents, manuals, and compliance programs alongside the Head of FSQR

  • Assist with facility audits, mock recalls, system validations, and product traceability programs

  • Support regulatory, customer, and SQF (GFSI) requirements
Monitoring & Documentation

  • Check sanitizer and chlorine wash concentrations daily and log results

  • Calibrate thermometers and pH meters; document on required logs

  • Record weights, pH levels, temperatures, product appearance, and other quality attributes at required frequencies

  • Monitor and log metal detector operations in the packing room

  • Inspect product seals and verify packaging integrity

  • Verify accuracy of production documents, labels, and packaging information

  • Monitor foreign object control forms

  • Complete daily production monitoring forms accurately and legibly

  • Track and document Food Safety Culture activities (Employee of the Month), holds, rejections, and returns
Quality Control & Testing

  • Inspect in-process products to ensure premium quality standards are met

  • Verify equipment cleanliness using Pre-Op and Sanitation procedures

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly environmental and food contact swabbing

  • Conduct finished product testing to ensure compliance with Sanitation and Listeria programs

  • Coordinate with external laboratories regarding testing requirements, reports, and statistical data
Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Possess authority to stop production lines if food safety or quality issues arise

  • Assist in determining root cause and implementing corrective actions

  • Work collaboratively with management to drive continuous improvement

  • Act as backup to QC technicians on the production floor as needed

  • Support training initiatives in coordination with the Head of FSQR and Production Manager
Qualifications

  • Experience in food manufacturing or food safety/quality assurance preferred

  • HACCP certification required or ability to obtain

  • SQF Practitioner and PCQI certification (or ability to attain per industry requirements)

  • Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, and SQF standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) and Safety Culture platforms

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

  • Spanish speaking ability is a plus; comfortable working in a bilingual environment
